Give Yourself the Gift of Self-Care this Holiday

Sanctuary 2015-12-14 Flash Mob
Sanctuary-Holiday Flash Mob   The holidays can be a stressful time, especially if you have a loved one struggling with a drug or alcohol addiction. Are you finding time for self-care this December? Self-care is just one of many topics we cover in depth on the Allies in Recovery member site. When you join our community, we’ll encourage you to check in with yourself using our “track-your-progress” tool, as well as your own personal, online journal—a private place where you can record your feelings, answer prompts, and reflect on our regular Sanctuary posts. The Sanctuary, written by Michelle Aldredge, is a special feature created for Allies in Recovery members. It’s a place where you can get away, breathe, and take time for yourself. We have filled it with music, art, affirmations, and fun videos like the one below in the hopes of helping you to reconnect with joy, laughter, relaxation, and yourself. In the days leading up to the New Year, try to carve out a few minutes of quiet time for yourself each day. You can use the time to pursue a hobby, read, go for a walk, meditate, write in a journal, or do something that will lift your spirits. Here is an inspiring holiday video to get you started… It is just another day at a local shopping mall until some unsuspecting shoppers get a big surprise while enjoying their lunch. Happy holidays from all of us at Allies in Recovery!
