Common Questions

How is the Allies in Recovery Approach Different from Everything Else Out There?

Allies in Recovery uses CRAFT – Community Reinforcement and Family Training, an evidence-based method PROVEN to work. With our specially-adapted eLearning program and live, weekly training and support groups, you’ll learn how to encourage non-use of substances, how to successfully engage your loved one into treatment and recovery, and to practice self-care.

9 out of 10 Allies in Recovery site users surveyed report greatly improved interactions with their loved one, AND their own greatly reduced stress levels; while 7 out of 10 site users report success getting their loved one to reduce substance use, to enter treatment and recovery, and to stay in recovery longer. This is simply the MOST successful approach out there.

Allies in Recovery is for parents, partners, grandparents, siblings, and anyone looking for help with the struggle that a loved one’s substance use presents.

You’ll have WEEKLY access to live (online) CRAFT skills, CRAFT education, and CRAFT support groups with our experts, who all attended trainings with Dr. Robert Meyers, one of the founders of the CRAFT approach:

–Kayla Solomon (LICSW), with decades of experience as an addiction counselor and CRAFT practitioner, runs our popular Wednesday evening (Eastern Time) CRAFT support group on Zoom

–Laurie MacDougall runs our weekly CRAFT education and skills groups, as well as our CRAFT training workshops. She has hundreds of hours of successfully teaching families and professionals our approach, and we consider her the most experienced practitioner we know!

–Dominique Simon-Levine, MPH/PhD, is Allies in Recovery’s Director, and has been practicing CRAFT for 20 years. Thousands of families have been served through Dominique’s efforts.

Additionally, a group of peer supporters is in training right now, to help facilitate more local and regional groups! All of them have been attending our live, online groups and have
When you attend our weekly online groups, you’ll get not only our experts but also the community of others who, like you, are struggling with a loved one’s substance use. Our groups are respectful, supportive, and so many of our site users are very knowledgeable and helpful.
