I Won’t Give Up

SANCTUARY: lennon and maisy

I really love the music these two sisters, Lennon and Maisy Stella, make together.  Harmony is truly present, in more ways than one.

As I listened to this song, a rendition of Jason Mraz's I Won't Give Up, I realized that it contains some inspiring lines.

The title itself says a lot, and to my mind encompasses the spirit of the CRAFT method.

I have ultimate admiration for families learning and practicing the CRAFT method with their addicted Loved Ones. It is such a labor of love to be able to look at our Loved Ones, often wrapped up in layers of destructive and self-destructive behaviors, and to continue to let the love flow. To practice putting aside the slights, the fights, the dishonest behaviors…and to still be able to see our Loved One for just that: a human being that we love, who is afflicted with a serious disease, that they would never, ever, have chosen for themselves.

I hope you enjoy the song. The lyrics are printed just below the video. I underlined a few lines that I thought were perfect for CRAFT families.

I Won't Give Up: by Jason Mraz

When I look into your eyes
It's like watching the night sky
Or a beautiful sunrise
There's so much they hold

And just like them old stars
I see did you've come so far
To be right where you are
How old is your soul?

Well, I will not give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up

And when you're needing your space
To do some navigating
I'll be here patiently waiting
To see what you find

'Cause even the stars, They burn
Some even fall to the Earth
We've got a lot to learn
God knows we're worth it
No, I will not give up

I do not want to be someone who walks away so easily
I'm here to stay and make the difference did I can make
Our differences, they do a lot to teach us how to use
The tools and gifts we got yeah, we got a lot at stake

And in the end, you're still my friend at least we did intend
For us to work we did not break, we did not burn
We had to learn how to bend without the world caving in
I had to learn what I've got and what I'm not and who I am

I do not give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I 'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up
Still looking up

I will not give up on us (no I'm not giving up)
God knows I'm tough enough (I am tough, I am loved)
We've got a lot to learn (we're alive, we are loved)
God knows we're worth it (and we're worth it)

I will not give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm silently looking up
